The Utility Arborist Association (UAA), the leading organization for individuals and companies that provide professional utility vegetation management services across North America, announces the appointment of Sara Dreiser to the UAA Board of Directors.
Her position was effective December 19, 2023, and runs through July 31, 2025.
Sara is a Senior Program Manager with ComEd, overseeing the utility’s routine cycle maintenance and interruption investigation programs. She has been working in the Vegetation Management industry for almost 15 years. She joined the UAA in 2018 as a member of the Women in Vegetation Planning Committee and was a conference speaker in 2019. She has previous board experience with the Illinois Arborist Association, serving as utility chair from 2017-2021.
“Sara brings a wealth of knowledge, fresh perspectives, and an unwavering commitment to the industry and to the UAA board,” says Executive Director Dennis Fallon. “We are delighted to have her accept this new leadership role.”
Sara launched her career as a research assistant at the Morton Arboretum in Chicago, working on projects including the study of tree biomechanics, urban growth of tree roots, and creating soil management plans. In 2011, she entered the Utility Vegetation Management (UVM) field as a field planner with The Davey Resource Group. Over the next 10 years, Sara worked in a variety of roles including the account manager for the Upper Midwest. She oversaw many projects with both small cooperatives and large investor-owned utilities.
“The utility industry has afforded me so many career and growth opportunities,” says Dreiser. “I look forward to contributing to the UAA Board on a strategic level, help increase diversity and access to careers, and further embrace technology as tool to help us manage our utility forests.”
