If you want to speak at this year’s Trees & Utilities Conference, please ensure that your papers are submitted by Wednesday, February 14, 2024.

Special Vote Request of Membership on UAA Bylaws
The UAA Board of Directors will present proposed changes to the bylaws and a motion to adopt them. Members will then be able to vote electronically to approve or reject the revisions.
Here is where to review the current bylaws and watch an important explanatory video from President Brandon Hughson on the language changes.
Voting is open to all UAA members. Watch for a link in your email. It will be sent at the start of the voting period on February 28, 2024.

Applications Open Soon for Nelsen Money Scholarship Program
This month, the application process begins for the Nelsen Money Memorial Scholarship Program.
A $2,500 award is open to eligible students to support program expenses at an accredited college or university and participation in the annual Trees & Utilities Conference. The annual scholarship aims to assist students in pursuing their utility arboriculture studies, offering a distinctive chance to pay tribute to Nelsen’s industry dedication, accomplishments, and mentorship.
The application process is open February 15, 2024 through April 15, 2024. To apply or donate, visit the scholarship award webpage.
New Quizzes Available to Get Credentials
Earning CEUs is as easy as reading articles in the UAA Newsline and taking a quiz to confirm your knowledge. Just added this month, two new quizzes on “Bats & Disease” and “Cutting Down on Risk”. Check the Member Portal under “Quizzes” today. Good luck!
TREE Fund Grants for Research and Education
Check out the 2024 grants for research and education, and scholarships available this spring and fall from the TREE Fund, including a Utility Arborist Research Fund Grant. One-hundred-word Letters of Inquiry (LOIs) for the UARF grant are being accepted now through March 1, 2024. For approved LOIs only, the application deadline is March 15, 2024.
