Committees Focus on Engagement and Safety, and New Ideas

The UAA Outreach Committee aims to better integrate with other UAA groups and leverage their strategic opportunities. During a recent meet up, Michelle Lejins mentioned that the current committee leadership meeting will be restructured to include all committees, ensuring Outreach stays informed about all committee activities. Additionally, the group is working on ways to better engage students within the UAA.

As safety and technology continue to evolve, Les Day states that the Safety Committee is reaffirming its commitment to collaboratively maintaining and elevating safety standards through education and technology. Key areas of focus include:

  • Emphasizing the importance of following weather forecasts in field operations, especially during recent flash flooding incidents.
  • Clearly defining committee roles and responsibilities.
  • Advocating for a simplified approach to help industry professionals understand and implement critical safety models.
  • Exploring the role of AI and technology in enhancing driving safety within the industry.

Renee Bissett highlights the engaging nature of the Editorial Committee, where everyone actively participates by voicing ideas and thoughts for the Newsline.

“Most ideas and thoughts come to fruition, written either by the person offering the idea or someone they promote to write the article,” she says.

UAA committees are at capacity for volunteers right now. If you feel inspired to join these conversations, reach out to Renée Phillips to help decide what team might be a good fit for you.
