Sara Dreiser, Senior Program Manager at ComEd, has received the UAA’s Rising Star Award, recognizing her exceptional leadership and contributions to the Utility Vegetation Management (UVM) industry.

“Sara’s career reflects her dedication, knowledge, and passion for UVM,” says nominator Amanda Opp. “With nearly 15 years of experience, she is a key industry figure, known for her innovative approaches and leadership.”

Sara got her start at the Morton Arboretum, where she studied tree biomechanics and urban growth, gaining insights into tree root development and soil management. She later joined The Davey Resource Group in 2011 as a field planner, and over the next decade, served as account manager for the upper Midwest, managing projects for both small cooperatives and large utilities.

In 2022, Sara became Senior Program Manager at ComEd, overseeing routine maintenance and interruption investigation programs, crucial for maintaining power delivery reliability. Her leadership fosters collaboration and continuous improvement.

“The utility industry has provided me with great career opportunities,” says Sara. “I want to help increase diversity, improve access to careers, and embrace technology to better manage utility forests.”

Beyond her work, Sara is an active UAA member, serving on the Women in Vegetation Planning Committee and the UAA Board of Directors through July 2025. She also served as the Illinois Arborist Association’s Utility Chair from 2017-2021 and speaks at conferences, sharing her expertise.

Sara is committed to workforce development and integrating technology to streamline vegetation management practices. Her work is a testament to how one individual’s dedication can impact an entire industry. Sara Dreiser is a true rising star.
