Bob Richens, a dedicated professional with more than 30 years of experience in the utility vegetation management industry, has been honored with this year’s UAA President’s Award. This recognition is a testament to his exceptional leadership, industry expertise, and unwavering commitment to excellence.

Throughout his career, Bob has worked at virtually every level of the trade, gaining a deep understanding and respect for the roles each employee plays in the success of an organization. His leadership philosophy is built on listening, learning, and maintaining a forward-looking vision, ensuring the growth and success of those he leads.

A Career Built on Expertise and Service

Bob’s career is defined by his wealth of experience and dedication to advancing the utility vegetation management industry. Before joining ARBORMETRICS, he developed and implemented a comprehensive vegetation management program as the right-of-way management supervisor at a utility company. He also assisted other utilities in evaluating and enhancing their vegetation management strategies.

Over the years, Bob has recruited, hired, trained, and managed more than 350 utility foresters, arborists, and project managers. His career spans commercial arboriculture and serving as an extension forester in Urban Forestry at the University of Florida.

Bob’s academic achievements include a BS in Forest Resources and Conservation from the University of Florida and a degree from the Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College. He is an ISA Certified Arborist and has actively participated in the Utility Arborist Association (UAA). Notably, he has served as president of both the UAA and the ISA Southern Chapter.

A Legacy of Leadership
