The UAA is actively seeking qualified nominees to fill positions on the Board of Directors.
Our Board plays a pivotal role to ensure the sustainable operation of the organization, overseeing finances, day-to-day operations, and guiding the UAA’s future direction.
Those elected serve key roles, including President-Elect, Vice President, President, Past President, Treasurer, and Directors. The Board’s tenure varies, with the Treasurer and Directors serving three-year terms. Additionally, the immediate past president remains involved on the Board during their fourth year.
Nominations Open in 2024: Vice President and Directors (2)
The association is currently accepting nominations for the positions of Vice President and two Directors. All active UAA members received an email on May 1st, 2024, containing a link to submit nominations. It is essential that nominees are aware of their nomination and willing to participate prior to submission.
Candidates considered for board positions must meet specific criteria:
- Demonstrate a commitment to the UAA’s mission and goals, strategic thinking, and effective communication skills and be a member in good standing
- Commit to serving the UAA in various capacities, such as committee champion, attending meetings, providing financial insights, and participating in the UAA’s Annual Meeting at Trees & Utilities
Nomination Timeline
- The Nomination Period = May 1 – May 22, 2024
- Final Slate of Nominations = July 15 – August 1, 2024
- Election Results Announcement = August 31, 2024 (or a later date, if necessary) during the UAA Annual Meeting
- New Board Positions filled = September 1, 2024
The UAA Nominating Committee will review all submissions, engage with potential candidates regarding job responsibilities and commitments, and develop a final slate of nominations for voting by UAA members.

Who Can You Nominate for a UAA Award?

Before choosing your nominations, take a moment to familiarize yourself with the five award categories:
- Will Nutter Silver Shield – Given to individuals who are on the front line of safety and may have official or unofficial roles within an organization. They influence and promote a safety culture at every turn.
- Utility Arborist – Presented to an individual who has made a significant contribution to the field of Utility Arboriculture.
- Education Award – Honors an individual who has added to the knowledge and practices of the Utility Arborist.
- Lifetime Achievement – Recognizes the person who has reached many milestones during his/her career as a Utility Arborist.
- Rising Star – Given to individuals who are relatively early in their career yet have already shown leadership of the organization and the industry.
